May 7 Daily Entry -- My Name

Here, in my journal, I am T. S. Bauk. This is a name I chose, not one I was given.

In Serbian mythology, a Bauk is a creature or monster. It lives away from people, in dark places, caves, and abandoned houses. I believe it eats the people that it catches.

I often feel like a creature different from humans, and if I could live in a cave far away from others, I often think I would. But at the same time, I love stories, and most stories that we tell involve humans. And I long to be understood, though I fear I never will. Thus, the journal--Bauk's Book.
